Latest Updates for Foreign Visitors to Andaman and Nicobar Islands

E-Visa Entry:
The Ministry of Home Affairs has designated Port Blair as an Integrated Check Post (ICP), allowing foreign nationals with e-visas to enter the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This move is expected to enhance tourism in the region. In addition to Port Blair, e-visa holders can also enter India through five major seaports: Mumbai, Cochin (Kerala), Mormugao (Goa), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), and New Mangalore (Karnataka).

Restricted Area Permit (RAP):
Visitors from Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, and foreign nationals with origins in these countries are still required to obtain an RAP to visit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Additionally, citizens of Myanmar need a RAP for travel to Mayabunder and Diglipur.

Registration Requirements:
Foreign visitors must carry their registration certificate, which should be available for inspection upon request by a registration officer, magistrate, or police officer.

Important Information for Travelers:

  • Passports must be shown at immigration counters at the airport and seaport.
  • Visitors are required to follow guidelines issued by the Ministry of Environment & Forest to help preserve the natural and marine resources of the islands.
  • Special permissions are required to visit Reserved Forests, Wildlife Sanctuaries, and Tribal Reserves.
